Ready? ‘Arrested Development’ marathon begins May 26 at 12:01 a.m.

I’m still recovering from “House of Cards,” “Mad Men” and “Walking Dead” marathons on Netflix, but I’m pretty sure that I’ll be ready to get back in the lounge chair for one more big event: Netflix has announced “Arrested Development,” all 15 episodes at once, is rolling out at 12:01 a.m., May 26, a Sunday (and, YES!, Monday is Memorial Day so we’ll all have plenty of time to recover).

The one-time Fox comedy darling (2003-2006), returns with all of its original cast members including Jason Bateman, Will Arnett, Michael Cera (and all likely in, um, let’s just assume soft focus will get a workout).

Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos said this iteration of “Arrested Development” was “crafted for the on-demand generation that has come to discover the show in the years since it last appeared on TV.”

The return of the niche hit was announced originally in 2011, and, at the time, the idea of an “Arrested Development” movie also was bandied about.

Not happening.

But there is more original content to come from Netflix, as it slowly—and relentlessly—transforms into more of a content originator than a content aggregator. Although there’s no hard and fast schedule set, Netflix said it plans to release several new series, including “Hemlock Grove,” from the horror director Eli Roth, and “Orange is the New Black,” from “Weeds” creator Jenji Kohan.
