Canadian media technology company Digital Rapids has scored a win with Internet and digital media service provider Terra, announcing Wednesday that the company will use DR’s Transcode Manager to prepare media assets for multiscreen VOD distribution for the company’s branded online news portal.
Terra—which reaches about 100 million people monthly with entertainment, sports and news content offered in English, Spanish or Portuguese in 19 countries across the Americas and Europe–already has used the high-volume, automated media processing software for other projects, including multiscreen on-demand coverage of last year’s London Olympic Games.
Terra said Transcode Manager gives it more advanced format flexibility than some other solutions on the market, which will be critical as Terra expands its multiscreen offerings. The Transcode Manager software combines intelligent automation, rich format support and flexibility for high-volume media transformation applications, and can be scaled from small transcoding ‘farms’ to global operations.
Digital Rapids will be at NAB 2013 in Las Vegas next week.
